SPS Large Soft Pack Power Battery System

Product overview

SPS (Super Pouch Solution) is Farasis Energy's industry-first pouch-type cell-to-pack (CTP) power battery solution, integrating four innovations - large soft pack cells, the large soft pack battery system, large soft pack manufacturing, and direct recycling (unveiled at the Beijing strategy and new-product launch event on September 9, 2022). The large soft pack power cell adopts a full-tab/multi-tab design and lamination process, with a charge/discharge rate of 2.4C-5C (or even higher), and applies a semi-solid electrolyte to reduce the amount of liquid electrolyte and improve intrinsic safety; it is compatible with multiple chemistries including high-nickel NCM, low-nickel lithium-rich manganese, LMFP, and sodium-ion. The large soft pack battery system features an integrated high-efficiency liquid-cooling plate and chassis design, with the semi-solid large soft pack cells directly integrated into the system chassis: system components are reduced by 50%, material cost is lowered by 33%, and volume utilization is raised by 30% to 75% (12% higher than the 4680 cylindrical cell), with a battery system packing efficiency of >=80%. A high-efficiency liquid-cooling plate plus thermal-conductive sheet enables dual-side cooling and three-surface heat transfer, raising heat dissipation efficiency 4x, with the battery system cycle life exceeding 3000 cycles (3x that of the 4680) and thermal conductivity improved 60%; even when equipped with 8-series or higher nickel-content cells, single-cell thermal runaway does not propagate (NO TP). By adjusting the thickness of the horizontally arranged large soft pack cells, the chassis height is flexibly adjustable from 85-145 mm, the battery system capacity covers 80-150 kWh, and it can fit the entire passenger-vehicle range (same chassis, one cell type); it supports 300-350 kW fast charging, delivering 400 km of range in a 10-minute charge; capacity retention exceeds 90% at -20 C, and charging time is halved. The SPS large soft pack battery pack also completed the industry's first 'ten-pin simultaneous puncture' thermal-runaway test and has obtained both UNECE ECE R100 and R10 certifications.

Semi-Solid and Solid-State Batteries

Product overview

Following a 'mass-produce one generation, develop one generation, pre-research one generation' strategy, Farasis Energy advances multiple electrolyte routes in parallel in the solid-state field, with soft pack lamination as the main technology route for solid-state batteries. Three generations of semi-solid batteries are progressing in an orderly manner: the first generation uses gel solidification technology, with energy density of 280-300 Wh/kg, passing a 1 mm steel-needle penetration without fire or combustion, and was mass-produced and vehicle-integrated in 2022 (Dongfeng, GAC, Geely, and overseas customers); the second generation adopts oxide/polymer solid-electrolyte coating densification technology, with energy density of 330 Wh/kg, fast-charge capability >3C, cycle life >4000 cycles, and -20 C energy retention of 90%, having completed DV/PV testing and being prepared for small-batch production (premium passenger vehicles + low-altitude economy); the third generation introduces high-conductivity solid electrolyte, fast-ion rings, ultra-high-nickel cathode, and anode-surface solidification technology, with energy density reaching 400 Wh/kg, undergoing automotive-grade certification and industrialization development. All-solid-state batteries: the sulfide system (high-nickel ternary + high-silicon anode/lithium metal) with energy density >400 Wh/kg has entered real testing, with stable cell cycling and self-shutoff thermal-runaway capability, planning to deliver 60 Ah cells in small batches to strategic partners by the end of 2025; the first-generation sulfide all-solid-state has been sampled (400 Wh/kg), the second generation completed technology development (lithium-rich manganese-based/high-nickel ternary cathode + lithium-metal anode, 500 Wh/kg, with thermal-runaway self-shutoff), and a third generation will be launched in 2027 (leaping toward above 500 Wh/kg). The oxide/polymer composite system (lithium-metal anode + high-nickel cathode) can reach energy density of 500 Wh/kg with lower working pressure, and its first two generations have been successfully mass-produced. At CIBF2025, the head of the R&D institute stated that the solid-state target energy density is 400-750 Wh/kg with no upper limit.
