Shenxing Superfast Charging Battery
CATL's LFP ultra-fast charging brand. In August 2023 it launched the world's first LFP 4C ultra-fast charging battery (range over 700 km, 400 km of range added in 10 minutes of charging). The second-generation Shenxing (released at the April 2025 Super Tech Day) is the world's first LFP battery combining 800 km of range with a peak 12C ultra-fast charging rate, delivering peak charging power of 1.3 MW - 2.5 km of range per second of charging - and can recharge from 5% to 80% SOC in 15 minutes at -10C, while still providing 830 kW of output power at low state of charge. The third-generation Shenxing (released at the April 2026 Super Tech Day) achieves the industry's strongest ultra-fast charging with an equivalent 10C and 15C peak: 10% to 35% SOC in just 1 minute, 10% to 80% SOC in 3 minutes 44 seconds, and 10% to 98% SOC in 6 minutes 27 seconds; in -30C extreme cold, 20% to 98% SOC takes about 9 minutes; capacity retention remains above 90% after 1,000 full cycles. The chemistry is lithium iron phosphate (LFP). Shenxing ultra-fast charging piles are now standard across all Choco-Swap and Qiji SWAP stations, enabling swap-and-charge integration.
LFP chemistry; 3rd generation equivalent 10C, peak 15C; 10%-98% SOC in 6 min 27 s; 10%-80% SOC in 3 min 44 s; 20%-98% SOC in about 9 min at -30C; over 90% capacity retention after 1,000 cycles
- Battery electric passenger vehicles (long-range and ultra-fast-charging scenarios for private cars; high-frequency recharging for fleet operations); paired with Shenxing ultra-fast charging piles and the integrated swap-and-charge network; the third generation is expected to reach the market in Q4 2026.
Qilin Battery
Third-generation CTP (Cell To Pack) battery released in June 2022, setting a new global record for system integration with volume utilization above 72%. The ternary version reaches a system energy density of 255 Wh/kg and the LFP version 160 Wh/kg, easily enabling 1,000 km of vehicle range. World-first large-surface cell cooling technology quadruples the heat-exchange area and supports 5-minute rapid thermal start and 10-minute fast charging. The third-generation Qilin (released at the 2026 Super Tech Day) reaches a cell energy density of 280 Wh/kg, combines the 1,000 km range with standard 10C ultra-fast charging, and keeps the pack weight at 625 kg (255 kg lighter and 112 L more compact than comparable LFP packs), with 3 MW instantaneous power (double the 1,330 kW of the second-generation Qilin track battery). On safety, it upgrades thermal-electric separation on top of the NP no-thermal-propagation design, with an independently sealed venting channel for every cell. Chemistry covers ternary (NCM) and LFP.
