Company overview

Geely Radar focuses on new-energy pickup trucks. Its public brand material lists the RD6, Horizon and King Kong ranges for cargo, outdoor travel and work uses. The brand describes M.A.P as a platform for new-energy pickups and presents battery electric and hybrid routes, external power supply and connected vehicle features.

2026 business integration

In May 2026, Geely Automobile Holdings completed the acquisition of Radar Automobile (Shandong), Radar Automobile Sales (Shandong) and Riddara Automobile (Thailand) Company Limited. Before the transaction, the Zhejiang company primarily served as a shareholding platform; Radar Shandong managed the pickup product line and coordinated procurement, manufacturing and sales. The three acquired companies became wholly owned subsidiaries of Geely Automobile Holdings.

Identity and group relationship

Radar New Energy Vehicles (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. is affiliated with Geely Holding. The Radar brand site describes Geely Radar as Geely Auto Group's new-energy pickup brand. Group support in R&D, manufacturing, quality and distribution does not make every group facility, technology asset or sales company an asset of this Zhejiang entity.

Origins and business scope

Geely entered the new-energy pickup category in 2022 and introduced Radar with a purpose-built electric pickup. The brand develops vehicles for cargo work, outdoor travel and vehicle power supply. Its publicly documented Chinese-market families include RD6, Horizon and King Kong, with battery-electric and plug-in hybrid versions. A brand-level model range does not by itself establish the manufacturing entity for every version.

Product development

RD6 launched in November 2022. Official 2024 material describes the electric Horizon, and plug-in hybrid Horizon and King Kong models joined the range in May 2025. The 2026 King Kong EV has two- and four-wheel-drive configurations with different batteries.

R&D architecture and powertrains

Radar describes its M.A.P pickup platform as derived from Geely Holding's SEA architecture. The platform is designed to accommodate battery electric, plug-in hybrid and range-extended powertrains; the documented product range here establishes electric and EM-P plug-in hybrid applications, not a marketed range-extender. EM-P is a Geely group technology applied to the hybrid pickups. Vehicle-to-load output varies significantly by model and interface, so the separate technology and comparison sections retain their model-specific ratings.

Manufacturing and quality

A 2022 brand release identifies the Zibo Smart Factory in Shandong as the RD6 production site and reports production-data collection, CNC equipment and flexible assembly measures at that time. Zibo's industry bureau documented automated welding and final vehicle checks at Shandong Geely New Energy Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. in 2025. That operator is a separate legal entity from Radar New Energy Vehicles (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd.. Historic line metrics do not establish current licensed annual capacity or the production approval for every later variant.

International operations

RIDDARA is Radar's name for overseas markets. The brand announced a Thai operating company in 2024 and subsequently launched the RD6 there. It moved the RD6 plug-in hybrid series toward export in 2025; official releases record a Costa Rican RD6 PHEV launch and a South African market launch in 2026. Local specifications, homologation, warranties and distributors need to be read for each destination rather than inferred from the Chinese-market vehicles shown on this page.

Service and buyer documents

The Chinese service portal provides model-specific owner and warranty manuals and an aftersales channel; the international site hosts separate manuals. Buyers can use the year-specific comparison, bed dimensions, rated payload and duty-cycle notes here to shortlist a model, then evaluate local approvals, supply terms and service contracts for the intended market. A benefit reserved for a first private owner should not be presented as a fleet warranty.

Sustainability and disclosure limits

The evidenced environmental scope is the brand's electric and plug-in hybrid portfolio and its stated low-carbon outdoor positioning. Geely Holding sustainability reports cover multiple businesses; their group totals cannot be assigned to this Zhejiang company. We have not established an entity-specific carbon inventory, factory energy figures, a complete certification register, licensed annual capacity, a count of proprietary R&D centres or a verified list of major customers for publication.
