MH170 Metal Bipolar Plate Fuel Cell Stack

Product overview

Edelman's first-generation fully self-developed metal bipolar plate automotive fuel cell stack (Metal Bipolar Plate Fuel Cell Stack). A single stack (approx. 370 cells) achieves a maximum output power of 143 kW; it passed the mandatory inspection by the National Center for Quality Supervision and Testing of Motor Vehicle Products. The paired fuel cell engine delivers a rated output of 113 kW, while the stack outputs 140 kW under rated conditions. The bare stack (single stack) reaches a maximum volumetric power density of 4.7 kW/L, with metal bipolar plates (metal bipolar plate) using Edelman's proprietary metal plate coating technology. In terms of operating temperature, it withstands -40 ℃ low-temperature storage and adapts to -40 to 60 ℃ storage/operating environments; the same-generation C-series engine supports -30 ℃ cold start and IP67 protection rating. The design life matches the same-generation products at >=10000 h (see C02/C03 engine series). It is suitable for tourist buses, logistics vehicles, medium- and heavy-duty trucks and other high-power long-haul heavy-truck scenarios, and is one of the known highest single-stack power products in its class domestically. MH290 Metal Bipolar Plate Fuel Cell Stack

Product overview

Edelman's second-generation (released 2025) high-power metal bipolar plate fuel cell stack for 49-ton hydrogen heavy-duty trucks. Released on July 23, 2025, with peak power 410.9 kW (0.637 V @ 2.9 A/cm2) and rated power 391 kW; an innovative efficient operating point of 311 kW (0.7 V @ 2.0 A/cm2) reduces hydrogen consumption and optimizes TCO. Volumetric power density is increased to 7.1 kW/L; through low cathode flow resistance design it lowers the air compressor load and supports unhumidified operation at ultra-low stoichiometric ratios. Bipolar plate material is metal (metal bipolar plate + anti-corrosion coating). Design life breaks through to 30000 hours (addressing the industry-wide shortfall of <20000 h), with a single-cell voltage spread of only 18 mV at peak power, 15% reduced sealing-face stress and leakage rate far exceeding the national standard; measured continuous operation at 2.5 A/cm2 for 1 hour shows power fluctuation <=±0.11%. It meets SAE J2380 vibration resistance standard, IP67 protection rating and >100 Ω/V insulation resistance (coolant-filled state), and can handle complex environments such as mining bumps and coastal high humidity. It is the power system for heavy-duty trucks in extreme conditions such as plateaus and steep slopes. MH Series Metal Bipolar Plate Fuel Cell Stack (MH3110, etc.)

Product overview

Edelman's planned third-generation and beyond metal bipolar plate fuel cell stack series. According to public reports in 2021, the third-generation product MH3110 single stack will increase its rated output power to 200 kW, meeting the power demands of passenger cars, buses, logistics vehicles and medium- to heavy-duty trucks, reaching internationally advanced levels; compared with the first-generation MH170 single stack, both stack and power density improve by 20-30%. Bipolar plate material is metal. This generational product continues Edelman's metal-plate stack engineering route. Source: Phoenix Network Ningbo 2021-06 (third-generation product planning). Note: MH3110 is in a planned/release state; the specific rated power is subject to the latest official website disclosure.
