LiDAR Transmitter Modules

Product overview

Focuslight's LiDAR transmitter module platform for automotive LiDAR (ADAS/autonomous driving), summarized on the official 'Automotive LiDAR' page into three categories: BeamRazor™ line laser transmitter modules based on edge-emitting lasers (EEL), VCSEL-based line laser/flash transmitter modules, and high-peak-power DPSS laser transmitter modules. Specific models and parameters (all from the official website/official datasheets): 1) BeamRazor™ LE02 Pro (905nm EEL line laser): wavelength 905±10nm, spectral width FWHM <7nm, module peak output power >700W (@10–75kHz, pulse width ~5ns, HVDD 20–90V), laser pulse width ~5ns, rise time ~2ns, operating duty cycle <0.1%; fast axis (horizontal) divergence <0.15° @FW1/e², slow axis (vertical) divergence approx. 11.5° (FL-LE02 Pro-600-905-0.15x11) or approx. 25.6° (FL-LE02 Pro-600-905-0.15x25), output spot size approx. 8×6mm²/8×7.4mm², dimensions 44×45×15mm, operating temperature -10 to 50°C, storage -40 to 105°C, logic voltage 7–12V, high voltage 20–90V, repetition pulse frequency 10–75kHz (official datasheet Rev02, product codes LET300033/LET300035). 2) BeamRazor™ LE02: 905nm EEL, peak 600W @35kHz, pulse width 4–5ns, fast axis <0.15°, slow axis 11°/25° @FWHM, uniformity >85%. 3) FocusFlux® LX01 (905nm VCSEL line laser): peak approx. 200W, fast axis <0.15°, slow axis 23°, uniformity >80%, dimensions 50.9×47.9×78.9mm. 4) LX02 (VCSEL line laser): peak 1kW, pulse width <5ns, built-in GaN FET driver. 5) AX01 (940nm VCSEL area flash): >300W @940nm, 3–5ns, FOV 125°×20°, automotive-grade glass beam homogenizer, AX02 in development. The modules integrate an automotive-grade glass beam homogenizer; the slow-axis spot energy exhibits a flat-top distribution with uniformity >85%, and together with rotating-mirror/MEMS scanning and APD/SPAD/SiPM detection are used in hybrid solid-state or Flash LiDAR. The company holds IATF 16949 system certification (certificate no. 0369819/registration no. 1211160334), passed VDA 6.3 audit (2020), and built a pure solid-state 3D Flash LiDAR light source module production line for a German Tier-1, achieving volume supply. Note: the official website pages do not list a specific AEC-Q102 certification number (only stating 'automotive-grade' design and IATF 16949/VDA 6.3), so this certification is not assumed.

Micro-Optics

Product overview

Focuslight manufactures micro-optics in volume on inorganic-material wafers up to 12 inches (300×300mm) using its proprietary wafer-level synchronous structuring, lithography–reactive ion etching (RIE) micro/nano optical precision processing, and imprinting (WLO) processes, for beam shaping and optical field homogenization in automotive LiDAR. Typical parameters (per the etched micro-optics page): micro-lenses can be manufactured on 6/8-inch silicon or fused-silica wafers, center thickness 0.3–3mm, sag up to 0.1mm, micro-lens array pitch accuracy better than 0.3μm; besides single-side (a)spherical micro-lenses, it can also produce (a)cylindrical micro-lenses, 2–20μm grooves, double-side micro-lenses (center alignment accuracy <3μm), and 45° micro-prisms on the back of micro-lenses. WLO uses 6/8-inch POG (polymer-on-glass) wafer imprinting, capable of reproducing feature sizes <1μm, low-temperature low-pressure UV curing, reflow-compatible; WLS stacks multiple WLO wafers with rigid spacer layers at micron-level alignment, without barrel/bracket, highly integrated, reflow-compatible. The product line also includes single/double (a)cylindrical lenses, V-groove arrays (96-channel cumulative pitch tolerance ±0.250μm, for fiber array/PLC/AWG alignment), diffractive optical elements (DOE), flat-top beam homogenizers (Beam Homogenizer/Flat Top, for LiDAR optical field homogenization), and precision molded and ground & polished optics. The 'automotive-grade glass beam homogenizer' is integrated into LiDAR transmitter modules such as BeamRazor™/AX01, and is the core optical component for achieving flat-top uniform line/area spots.

Key specifications

Maximum wafer 12-inch (300×300mm); micro-lens center thickness 0.3–3mm; maximum sag 0.1mm; pitch accuracy better than 0.3μm; WLO feature size <1μm; V-groove 96-channel cumulative pitch tolerance ±0.250μm; automotive-grade glass beam homogenizer

High-Power Diode / Fiber-Coupled Laser Modules

Product overview

Focuslight's high-power semiconductor lasers and fiber-coupled laser modules are the core laser sources and packaging foundation for automotive LiDAR transmitter modules. Open-package high-power diode lasers and high-peak side-pump modules cover a wide wavelength range and power output up to tens of kilowatts, with high electro-optical efficiency and high-reliability design; fiber-coupled diode laser modules are based on multiple single emitters or laser bars, using conduction-cooled or water-cooled designs. Wavelength range per the official website 755–1064nm, power output from several watts to tens of kilowatts. This series provides laser chips and AuSn die-attach packaging/fiber-coupling capability for LiDAR transmitter modules (such as the EEL/DPSS light source of BeamRazor™, and the VCSEL chips of AX01/LX01) and the 3D Flash LiDAR light source module production line; the company holds IATF 16949 automotive-grade quality system and automotive-grade mass-production capability. Note: this series is also widely used in non-automotive fields such as industrial manufacturing, medical health, and scientific research (relevant classification see excluded).
